How Long Does The China-Australia Shipping Route Take?

The transit time for China-Australia sea freight is affected by several factors. Firstly, the origin and destination differ; varying distances from different ports in China to different ports in Australia result in different transit times. Generally, direct shipping from major ports along China's eastern coast to major ports on Australia's east coast, such as Sydney and Melbourne, takes approximately 12-18 days.

For ports on Australia's west coast, such as Perth, the transit time may extend to 15-25 days due to the greater distance. Secondly, the mode of transport also affects the time. Full container load (FCL) shipping has a relatively simpler process, with less time spent loading, unloading, and waiting at the port, resulting in a more stable transit time. Less than container load (LCL) shipping, on the other hand, requires waiting for all goods to be collected, increasing port processing time and potentially adding 3-5 days to the overall transit time. Furthermore, weather conditions are also a significant factor. In case of severe weather such as typhoons or heavy rain, vessels may need to change routes or dock at ports to await better weather, extending transit time. Finally, the level of port activity also impacts transit time. If cargo is piling up at the port and loading and unloading efficiency is low, the time ships spend in the port will increase, thus affecting the time it takes for cargo to arrive in Australia.
